MISS UNITED STATES 2011
Body Matrixx, LLC is the official fitness sponsor of Miss United States 2011 Ashley Smith, providing support and guidance as she continues to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Check out her testimonial on living a healthy lifestyle and why she chose to join the Body Matrixx family!
“Healthy living is not something that is implemented for a short period of time. It doesn’t come in the form of a weight-loss supplement or metabolism-boosting milkshake. It also doesn’t come from depriving your body of essential nutrients.
“No, healthy living is an everyday commitment to making conscientious decisions about food, exercise, and habits. It’s about taking the stairs instead of the elevator. It’s about counting quality of life gained, not number of ponds lost. It’s the little choices made that helped me to become Miss United States, and I’m so glad that one of those choices was working with Body Matrixx, LLC!
When I first decided to compete for the title, six months before the actual pageant, I knew that I had to change my diet and exercise routine. It was definitely a long process to do it effectively; instead of cutting all “unhealthy” foods at once I slowly weaned myself off of them. My trainer Jewrell Marktoevis helped me to accomplish this effectively while also gently incorporating exercise into my week so that it didn’t seem like a chore… but actually became fun! And in six months’ time, not only had I lost 20 pounds THE RIGHT WAY but I had no desire to pick up sodas, fried food, or bad habits ever again.
“My advice to anyone pursuing a healthy lifestyle is to avoid the “microwave” products that guarantee a quick weight loss journey. Not only are some of them dangerous, but they don’t promote a full life change. The only way to get healthy AND stay there is to make the experience enjoyable and informative through Body Matrixx, LLC. Yes, it may take you longer to get where you want to be, but unlike others you will never return to where you USED to be. Take it from Miss United States– slow and steady always wins the race, and no place embraces that philosophy more than Body Matrixx!”

MISS HAMPTON ROADS ORGANIZATION
We worked with the ladies of the Miss Hampton Roads Organization as they prepared for the Miss Virginia United States Pageant!
Miss Hampton Roads United States 2012 Lauren Cannon is a resident of Chesapeake, VA and graduated from Western Branch High School. She is now a Lifespan & Digital Communications graduate student at Old Dominion University where she was a cheerleader on the Lady Monarchs team and initiated into the Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity. Currently, she is employed by TowneBank.
Lauren is committed to serving the community and promoting her platform, “Dove’s Campaign for Real Beauty”. Her platform not only allows young women to realize the beauty in their unique qualities but to also learn to celebrate– not ostracize– others for their differences. Because Lauren stands at 5’2″ and is passionate about her platform work, she has adopted and promoted the popular Dr. Suess quote, “A person’s a person, no matter how small.”
Pageantry has been a part of Lauren’s life for about ten years and she admits that the swimsuit competition has always been her least favorite phase of competition because she lacked motivation and training from an expert. She believes that the lessons she will learn from Body Matrixx will not only encourage her to continue to work out regularly and eat healthy foods, but instill in her the right habits to make progressive lifestyle changes for years to come.
